Overview

Brinks Home Security hasn’t been around long but it’s backed by years of experience and the infrastructure of two already well-established brands. Moni and LiveWatch became Brinks Home Security after Moni licensed its brands and trademarks to Brink’s back in 2018. LiveWatch had been specializing in do-it-yourself installations and home automation since 2002 and Moni, formerly Monitronics, has been providing residential and commercial alarm monitoring since 1994.

Brinks is trusted by more than one million people across the US for their home security solutions. Their DIY-approach means you can take control of your own security system, making it super easy to tailor your installation as your needs change over time. Their award-winning customer service was ranked number one in 2018 by J.D. Power and their website comes with plenty of useful self-help information. Keep reading and see if Brinks Home Security is the brand for you.

Features

ASAPer: ASAPer, Brinks’ trademarked alert system makes tracking, monitoring, arming and disarming your home security more efficient. You can choose from a mobile app, keychain, or system hub to keep in touch with your emergency contacts, the professional monitoring team and can access stored and live footage of areas in your home. The app makes it much easier to add new devices to your system, as well as browse and compare with other models and read product reviews.

24/7 Professional Monitoring: Including 24/7 professional monitoring in your package means you can share the load of protecting your home. Brinks Home Security’s monitoring station is highly responsive and can reach out to the relevant authorities or your chosen contact with a fast response. Their team is trained to deal with a variety of different issues and their tell-tale signs, so is quick to distinguish between which emergency service is needed.

Neighborhood Crime Reports: Brinks gives users the chance to keep an eye on the area around their home too. Their neighborhood crime report tool tracks crimes and keeps users alerted through email whenever new crimes are reported. All you need to do is explore the map or search by name, region, or zip code and you’ll find all recent and past crime reports linked to the neighborhood you live in. It’s a good way of looking out for family and friends that don’t live in the same area as well.

Reminder Alerts: Brinks Home Security uses Remind Me Alerts and they’re an awesome feature for helping the full family keep on top of arming your devices. You’ll need the Nest Secure device to use it but it uses geo-location tools to send reminds to the last person in the house to arm the security system. All notifications come straight through to the Nest app and anyone in the home can read them, as well as communicate to other family members in the messaging feature.

Equipment & Devices

The Brinks system has plenty of devices to choose from and its system can host up to 119 different smart devices at once. Apple TV, Amazon Alexa, and Google Home can all be used to control the system too. Below are some of the key pieces of equipment they offer.

Motion Sensors: Motion sensors are a great choice for when you go on vacation or if you want further protection when you’re at home. They can be placed on all access and entry points in the home as well as out, and could even be placed in areas where only burglars might decide to enter.

Key Fobs: A key fob works in a few different ways and is essential to keeping your home secure, especially in the event of a break-in. You can arm and disarm your alarm but should you find yourself in an emergency, you can hit the panic button and the emergency services will be informed immediately.

Garage Door Tilt Sensor: Your car is a valuable asset in many ways and shouldn’t be overlooked when securing your home. There are plenty of tools for looking after your car, including the garage door tilt sensor. Should anyone tamper with it or pull it up, the sensor will trip and an alarm will sound, and you’ll be notified immediately through your smartphone or alarm panel.

Indoor/Outdoor Cameras: Brinks provides cameras for both inside and outside your home and can store the footage on your devices and cloud. Their cameras are all 1080p quality and there’s also an HD video doorbell for monitoring who comes to your door and in your home.

Customer Support

Brinks customer support can be reached on phone and via email but they’re not available 24/7. They also don’t offer live chat but you can reach out to them on their social media channels.

Anyone who’s considering using Brinks Home Security will get the chance to test out their tailored system with a 30-day risk-free trial. A trial period is pretty essential to a provider that uses 36-month contracts. All the equipment you buy from them for protecting your home comes with a two-year warranty.

System Overview

Brinks Home Security is a reliable home security provider that has years of collective experience. They offer flexible solutions and have multiple payment options to choose from. The real benefit is here that all options come with smartphone capabilities, whereas not all providers do, or for their cheapest plans at least.

Having to take 36-month agreements on their plans is pretty frustrating and they don’t have live chat, but the 30-day trial is there to help you make the right decision, and all equipment comes with a two-year warranty.
